ShearShare co-founders Dr. Tye and Courtney Caldwell are married co-founders who have found success in both business and their relationship. From moving their business to Buffalo, NY, to writing best-selling books, we dive deep into their secrets for making it all work.

THE INTERVIEW

ShearShare received a $500,000 investment from 43North in 2021, plus $400,000 in follow-on-funding in 2022. Originally from Houston, TX, co-founders Dr. Tye and Courtney Caldwell moved their business and their lives to Buffalo NY to join 43North’s Y7 cohort.

ABOUT SHEARSHARE

ShearShare is a B2B mobile marketplace that monetizes underutilized assets, starting with space to work. Licensed stylists get access to pay-as-you-go workspace across 800 cities with no contracts or commission. And salon, spa, and barbershop owners rent their suites and stations to local professionals on demand, turning their empty space into extra dollars! ShearShare has the largest database of on-demand rentals and the most affordable leases in the market.

WHY BEING MARRIED CO-FOUNDERS WORKS FOR THEM

Dr. Tye and Courtney Caldwell simply came up with the idea for ShearShare to solve a problem in the salon and barbershop industry; an industry that has helped feed their family for decades. As married co-founders, they get a lot of push-buck from investors because of the stigma around married couples who are in business together.

The reasoning? Because being co-founders is similar to being in a marriage. 🤯

Courtney and Dr. Tye dive into why being married co-founders works for their business and the fundamental advantages that they have over other co-founders. While the business concept was Dr. Tyes, Courtney came from the corporate world and knew how to implement the processes and procedures that would turn his idea from a vision to a business.
