From Funding to Founder Support: How 43North Helped Guidesly Thrive

When David Lord moved Guidesly to Buffalo after winning 43North’s startup competition, he gained more than just funding. He gained Buffalo and 43North as a strategic partner.  Since relocating in early 2024, Guidesly has raised $9.5 million, launched a patented AI tool, and doubled its Buffalo-based team. But according to Lord, it’s the support from 43North that’s helped accelerate the company’s growth.

“They’ve made key introductions, opened doors, and given us access to an incredible network,” said Lord. “It’s been way more than capital.”

43North has played a hands-on role in connecting Guidesly to mentors, investors, and growth opportunities within Buffalo’s startup community. Guidesly has also leveraged local talent, hiring directly from the University at Buffalo, including a new team member who was on UB’s Fishing team.  With major brand campaigns on the horizon and strategic support from 43North, Guidesly is proving what’s possible when founders have both funding and the right support system behind them.
